Social Security Disability

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits are awarded upon completion of a two-part test. According to the Social Security Administration's website, "Social Security Disability Insurance pays benefits to you and certain members of your family if you are 'insured,' meaning that you worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes."

If a claimant has an insured status, it means he or she has worked and has sufficiently paid into the system. This is a calculation of lifetime earnings. Beyond this, there are no income or asset requirements that can disqualify claimants, unlike Supplemental Security Income benefits.

While this process may seem simple, the vast majority of claimants do not know how to ideally apply for benefits and end up with rejected claims. The process can be complex and confusing and if you do not provide the necessary information, it is almost a guarantee that your application will be rejected.

Having worked on these issues for decades, our law firm understands this and we are here to help.
