A woman with warrants on file was taken into custody following a fatal cash on June 23. According to the Arkansas State Police, the results of toxicology reports must be completed before police will know whether there is any possibility that alcohol may have contributed to the accident.
The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. when the 54-year-old woman allegedly crossed into the eastbound lane of Highway 64 and struck the front of another vehicle. The 25-year-old driver was killed as a result of the wreck. It was not clear why the car veered into the other lane. According to reports by Arkansas State Police, the weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time that the crash occurred.
The surviving woman was taken to Conway Regional Medical Center for treatment. Reports did not indicate the severity of her injuries. Based on preliminary statistics, the fatality is this accident was one of three that occurred that same day in Conway and raised the total amount of fatal accidents in 2014 to 195.
